OK, as I build up towards my Best Tracklocross Frames of 2024, I’ve decided this year, I’m going to have two frame categories. Why? Well, mainly because I can, and I will go for it. There will be Classic and Progressive categories in the 2024 list, which I may even shove up on YouTube.
There is a list of classic tracklocross frames here.
Before I build on why the different categories, here is a recap of my 2023 guide.
Classic or Progressive
The simple definition I will use is a classic tracklocross frame with a 120mm rear hub space and track geometry. Progressive tracklocross frames will move on from track geometry and use different rear hub spacing, which makes them progressive over the classic frames.
As time passes, I expect the progressive category to grow. At the same time, the classic frame category dwindles, especially with frames such as the All-City Big Block and Surly Steamroller heading for redundancy.
I am also doing this to allow me room to start filtering choices for frames. I get a lot of questions about what wheels or cranks to run on specific frames, so I’d like to be able to delineate parts to certain framesets.
So now you know the 2024 guide wil
l have two categories, feel free to tell me your recommendations below.
